Summary: This is a fabulous 1 double bedroomed maisonette with small sofa area, kitchen with table and shower room (with washing machine) that is perfect for a couple. The owner provides all the essentials in terms of washing up liquid, cloths, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, coffee pods, salt & pepper etc so that you can start your holiday immediately. The check in was great and the owner was very helpful and made restaurant recommendations and answered any other questions we had. You need to speak French though!! The maisonette is simply, but charmingly furnished and has everything you would need. Outside there is a private fenced off area with fake grass, garden table and chairs, 2 sunloungers, a big sun umbrella, a BBQ and a hi-dry for drying clothes. We used everything (except the bbq) as it was extremely hot whilst we were there. During our stay if there was ever a question we needed to ask the owner, we just sent a message and it was answered/dealt with very speedily. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this maisonette. The accommodation is near the pretty little village of St Trojan les Bains which is a 5 minute drive or a 20/25 minute walk where there are a number of shops, boulangerie and 2 small supermarkets (Co-op is better than the Spar!) There is a beach very close by, but it is tidal and so not great for sunbathing/swimming. We thought the best beaches on the island were at Le Grand Village or Vert Bois. We also enjoyed the towns of La Cotinere and Le Chateau d'Oleron which were lively and the latter has an excellent Sunday market.
