Positive: The villa itself was spacious and well-equipped, with plenty of amenities and a good level of comfort. The location was convenient, within walking distance of a nearby restaurant & close to the airport.
Negative: We stayed one night at Alpine Villa. We had several issues during our stay. The lights in the living room and master bedroom flickered constantly (genuinely annoying), and several living room lights didn't work at all. The owner said turning off the AC would fix it — it didn't. With temperatures at 38°C, going without AC wasn't an option, especially as there was only one AC unit (in the kitchen) trying to cool the whole villa. The owner blamed local voltage drops, a walk to a nearby restaurant, and back showed no flickering lights anywhere else nearby. None of the 5 other properties we stayed at over 12 nights in Albania had any electrical issues. We noticed several places where there were exposed electrics on the walls inside the Villa and combined with the flickering & faulty lights, this led us to suspect the issue may have been down to bad wiring rather than the voltage explanation we were given. We were told by the host to see the space and amenities as "value for money" to offset the issue, but we really only needed basic AC and reliable electricity — not the extras for a 1 night stop off before our departure. All we wanted was an acknowledgement and apology, not excuses. Other issues: There are no bedside lights. The 1 AC unit, located in the kitchen, was not enough to cool the whole house. Not a very well equipped kitchen, only one mug provided (uncleaned, mouldy), no towel to dry the washing up. When we asked about an airport taxi, we were quoted 10-15 euro — potentially double what we discovered we would pay if we used a local app (Patoko) (755 lek, ~€7.50). We understand there can be unforeseeable issues when renting out a property, but there are ways to respond to these that would have made for a more positive experience for everyone involved. We've had an amazing holiday overall, but unfortunately, this stay impacted our last day.
Summary: Value for money but not great customer service.
