Positive: Very kind host, great location (even though Gion is like a zoo these days), comfy futon, well-working A/C, little snacks and treats from the lovely host.
Negative: This room got so bright in the morning, and the sliding doors didn't do much to shade the room. The room would also get pretty warm because of this. Would have loved the option for dark curtains, especially considering how early sunrise is in Japan. Noise does travel easily here from the neighbors or from outside, but luckily it was relatively quiet overall.
Summary: Sweet host, and cozy inn.
