Travel Purpose: leisure
Positive: It was a mostly comfortable homestay, and everything necessary is available. There's a separate fridge for the guests to use and my bed came with a strong heated mattress. John was able to accommodate my request to change my dates so that I could stay in Hobart longer for the Antarctic Festival. The kitchen is both large and well equipped, and the toilet is great.
Negative: First of all, this property should not be listed as non-smoking. There is an ashtray and furnace in the porch, and there is a high risk of smoke entering the kitchen, thereby contaimating the bedroom. I was there for four nights and air quality was compromised on two of them, though thankfully only briefly. The check-in time is far too restrictive, and I think there should be a way to check in without relying on John to be present. A lockbox or keypad cannot be too hard to setup. Noise pollution was present in several ways that were disruptive to my sleep and peace. Perhaps the conversations from the other guest in the kitchen cannot be helped, but I could hear snoring each night that was loud enough to necessitate headphones. I was also woken up early once by John working in his shed, but the snoring is really the main issue. I think it came from the other guest room, but I'm not sure what can be done other than putting a blanket or something on the wall
