Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway or are friends traveling together looking for a safe and fun adventure, the layout of this house having bedrooms at either end of the large open living / kitchen area is perfect! The furniture, beds & linens all selected with comfort in mind, and the ocean and valley views are simply stunning from every room in the house! Located a mile to the beach to the front, and to the back over 200 acres of hiking and rewarding views of the Pacific Ocean – and you’ll see plenty of monkeys! The ocean breezes are perfect for that siesta in the hammock or just lounging by the pool. Having easy access to the beach, shopping, groceries, zip line tours, fishing - the list is long for activities, all within 20 minutes of Casa Verde. We urge to you read our reviews where the guests outline their favorite activities - this is truly a unique location in that it’s so easily accessible, but you feel like you’re in your own private resort. The owners are a couple houses away - about 1000 feet or so, so should you need anything at all, there is always someone to help with directions or questions & help with booking all your tours.
Built in a private gated community called Vista Lapas, only an hour & half drive to San Jose airport so you won't lose an entire day or more driving to your vacation destination! The house has all new appliances and furnishings, and the kitchen is stocked with everything you could want to prepare a gourmet dinner. The house boarders a coffee field and several mango, papaya, banana and avocado, lime, orange and grapefruit trees - all are for the guests to enjoy when in season. This is such a perfect location for foodies! We even have full herb garden. Upon arrival you'll be welcomed with bowl of local fruit along with fresh cut flowers from the gardens, and a sample of a favorite Costa Rican coffee. We'll give you some suggestions for grocery shopping and basic necessities, but one nice thing about this location is everything is easy to get to and safe to explore. Should you require more space, we also have a beautiful one bedroom vacation rental named la casita, its about 900 feet from Casa Verde and can be seen at https://www.vrbo.com/917245 .
Being centrally located with easy access insures you can visit several small beach towns, Manuel Antonio, Los Suenos for fishing, and a variety of Zip lines within 20 minutes. However, you may find that sitting pool side with a good book and nice music, watching the scarlet macaws fly over or listening to the toucans is a perfect day for any vacation!
If you're a foodie, this will be your dream vacation! There is a gas grill & outdoor sink on the terrace next to the pool. Our kitchen comes equipped with microwave, toaster oven, gas stove, dishwasher, heavy pots and pans, salad spinner, blender, food processor, rice cooker and everything you need for a fabulous pool side dinner with stunning ocean views!!!! The herb garden will have various herbs, depending on the time of year, but will always have Basil, Rosemary, Oregano and Mint. We have a couple of surf boards that guests are welcome to use, as well as a small cooler and various beach toys that our guests have contributed to Casa Verde.
Casa Verde is positioned on a point and while perfect for unobstructed views of the ocean and valley, it may not be suitable for unattended small children.
We're happy to arrange for tours (most with a 10 to 15 percent discount) or help with vacation excursions. We can also arrange for transportation to and from San Jose airport. We’re about an hour and half drive to SJO airport - the drive is very easy from the airport, the main highway the goes clear to Panama is only a mile to this house, so you're driving on good roads the entire way. We can also recommend a couple rental car companies in you like. Any questions you have, please don't hesitate to ask, we've lived here over 21 years full time so we know the area very well. We'll do our best to insure you have a wonderful, fun and relaxing vacation.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS / TOURS / ACTIVITIES
Zip-lining: By far the best on the central pacific coast is Vista Los Suenos Canopy, 20 minutes from the house. The guides are so fun with safety as a priority.
Sport Fishing: We have world class sport fishing in this area. From the high end Los Suenos Resort & Marina (20 minutes away) to a local panga boat that is just plain fun fishing & very reasonably priced – 20 minutes away to the south. And then there’s Quepos about 45 minutes to the south with Marina Pez Vella.
Bird Watching: Well known for the variety of birds in this country, but here at the house you’ll see Toucans, Scarlet Macaws, Herons and Falcons – daily.
ATV tours: There are several within 10 minutes, we recommend the package Zip line and ATV with Vista Los Suenos Canopy. If you’re looking for a private ATV tour, we recommend Jaguar riders.
White Water Rafting: A favorite in this area, H2O adventures is simply the best. The water is warm, the guides are great, but the visuals of the canyons you will never forget. They also have tubing down the river, kayaking but my favorite is the rafting.
Surfing lessons for all levels and ages & experience. 5 minutes from the house for more advanced or 10 minutes for less experience. Did you know the average temperature of the water here is 82! Year round warm ocean water!!!
Sea Kayaking: There are a couple Kayaking companies within 20 minutes. We like Herradura bay for beginners (or a bit more timid). It’s beautiful and has a couple restaurants you can stop by after / before.
Hikes: From the house you can hike for hours. The trails take you to the most fabulous view of Jaco, the Nacoya Peninsula and down to Manuel Antonio. We recommend download Mapmyhike on your phone and you can use your GPS to follow the trails. Monkeys galore!
