Positive: Beautiful property, and super location, on the edge of glorious village of Auriac-du-Perigord. The hot tub was a totally win for us, set in the forest next to the little house. The house is relatively private though two larger lets are directly behind it. We weren’t troubled by noise as the type of guests are respectful. Lovely to have space to roam, and the forest to take out the heat of the sun. Thankfully the kitchen was stocked with most things, lovely to have oil/salt & pepper etc just eases the stay with the little essentials. The host was kind enough to message us it was available earlier in the day, which I wish we could have taken advantage of. Love being able to go and see the horses and our kids to walk around the site. If you’re visiting in July and August check the night food market ( utterly charming) and the quaint vide grenier on Sundays) as well as other food night markets, this was an unexpected surprise and so lovely to join in on. Our host was really lovely. Gorgeous towels and soft pretty bed linens. Lovely to have nice bathrobes.
Negative: These are small niggles, nothing serious as we had the best time and would return. The staircase was a little precarious with the handrail not fully attached. The towel rail was so hot at certain points it burned my husband on his walk out of the shower (small bathroom) no way to adjust- just off or on. Although a a few coffee pods are supplied, there’s no cafetière so you’d have to buy pods you wouldn’t use at home if you don’t have the system at home. A Cafetière would be nice as well as a salad spinner and Bread knife. The microwave grill thing- we couldn’t understand, better to have a mini ninja convection oven. ( however you are spoiled for places to eat in Montignac and the night markets midweek). There was no large sweeping brush for the floor inside or out- this would be useful as forest debris needs a regular sweep. The kids bed linen not being made up and having to do all that bit ourselves. ( happy to make the sofa bed, but tiring when you’ve brought your luggage in to make up duvets and pillows). My tip is to bring max strength mosquito spray and plug in bug things.
