Positive: Wow, what a treat. Mavy opens up her whole home, with guest 4 bedrooms on the top 2 floors & western toilet for guests on 1st floor - everyone shares the shower room downstairs. Water is delivered in tanks so water conservation is very welcomed! Such a warm and lovely lady - I feel like a made a friend and got to really get a feel for the place 😊. Her home is 5 minutes walk to the magnificent Maligcong rice terraces where you can walk through to the other side and the local village proper… there are a small cluster of other houses nearby but that really is it (think nearest restaurants/shops for food/coffee shops -anything bar basic snack hit- back in Bontoc 1 hour away). If you’re lucky, you’ll see the villagers planting or harvesting etc. If you want peace and quiet/ or wonderful hiking in a rustic environment then you’ll love it. For food, make sure you let Mavy know a day in advance if you’d like her to cook for you (which was lovely simple foods) as she’ll need to get it. If you’d like to cook yourself, grab your food in Bontoc before you get the jeepney up, and she’ll let you use her kitchen! She also helps arrange great local guides - absolutely fab. You can do culture tours in around village proper or hike the local mountains etc!
