Nestled on the banks of the Saône, Écuelles is home to the second "large gauge" lock of the famous river (many pleasure boats and barges pass through, for a guaranteed change of scenery...) and has a soothing preserved rural setting of agricultural plain & natural (between meadows, fields of crops, rivers and forests) nestled on the edge of a huge wild wooded area dotted with ponds (composed of several vast state forests), a real "green lung" of the territory classified & protected in "Zone Natura 2000" for its rich ecosystem (to be explored during relaxing walks).
