Positive: Our host, Andrea, welcomed us at his beautifully appointed historic home overlooking Lastra a Signa and with a view of Florence in the distance. The home was spotless and filled with Andrea's treasures that only emphasized the charm of the space. The beds were comfortable and the living spaces and bathrooms were spacious. A short walk nearby, barely 200 feet away, the well-rated ristorante Edy Piu, which is busily frequented by the locals and offers wonderful Tuscan dishes including beautifully prepared Fiorentina steaks. About seven minutes by car down the hill, you have access to the Lastra a Signa Train Station with ample parking and hourly service to Florence's main station, Santa Maria Novella. This is an important attribute of the location of Villa Lysis, as driving and parking in Florence are highly restrictive. Once at SMN, you can get anywhere with ease. Our holiday in Tuscany was premised on being able to visit Florence but also venture out to explore the many treasures that dot the Tuscan countryside, as well as the Cinque Terre in Liguria. And that is exactly what the location of Villa Lysis allowed us to do. Close to the train station but also the Autostrada, we ventured to Pisa, Siena, San Giminiano, and many hilltop towns throughout Chianti. The location was absolutely perfect for our needs. We loved our stay at Villa Lysis and highly recommend Andrea as a host. Next time we visit Florence, we will, more than likely stay at Villa Lysis once again.
Negative: The upstairs bathroom does not have a stand-up shower. Instead, the bathtub is fitted with a handheld shower. No big deal, as we all showered downstairs, but that could be easily changed. This is the only negative to Villa Lysis I can think of :)
Summary: Perfect comfortable setting and location for exploring Florence and Tuscany.
