The cottage was their first Treasure Beach home and built on the loveliest piece of land atop a swimmable beach. During the ’70s, when author Alex Haley needed a quiet place to write, he tucked himself away at Treasure Cot to finish his book, Roots: The Saga of an American Family.
The three-bedroom cottage is a place of both togetherness and inspiration, soundtracked by the nearby sound of the waves crashing against the beach. Recently renovated, all the furnishings feel new and crisp. Everything was deliberately kept simple and light with built-in furniture, like daybeds in the large, beachfront windows. What hasn’t changed? The barefoot beach charm of this special place. And, it’s location.
