Highway 180 is a scenic stretch of road between Alabama’s beautiful Gulf Coast to the south, and Bon Secour Bay to the north. The highway connects downtown Gulf Shores to the tip of the peninsula at "the Fort" and Fort Morgan Ferry, which goes to Dauphin Island. The drive down Old Fort Morgan Highway is visually stunning. The road rambles through undisturbed Southern woods and past the wide waters of the Little Lagoon before opening to a dramatic northern vista where Mobile Bay meets Bon Secour Bay. Sitting just across the street from an undeveloped beachfront lot, SeaSwept is literally a few feet from the sand itself. The home is located on the beach road of Surfside Shores, a lovely coastal community on the Fort Morgan peninsula, approximately 14 miles west of Gulf Shores on State Highway 180 (Fort Morgan Road). This beach community is near both top-rated golf courses on the island, The Peninsula and Kiva Dunes.
This charming four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home is perfect for those traveling with friends and family. The uninterrupted Gulf views do not disappoint! The great room has gorgeous views to the south, but guests rarely leave the screened-in porch when staying at SeaSwept. Sitting on the southern-facing porch, the sights and sounds of the Gulf of Mexico will leave guests with a feeling of tranquility.
SeaSwept was one of our first rentals on the Emerald Coast, and is where we host our own friends when they come to visit. The home changed ownership in the summer of 2021. We were grateful to continue managing SeaSwept, aiding in a much-needed exterior remodel the following winter. Working closely with our new clients, we were able to bring their vision to life and make the house truly shine. SeaSwept holds a special place in our hearts, and we believe she will for our guests too.
SeaSwept can accommodate up to 10 guests comfortably, utilizing two king beds, one queen bed, and two sets of twin bunk beds. The interior living space is 1,685 square feet.
Like most beach homes, our house is on pilings. The main level of the home is elevated, so guests do need to climb stairs to access the main floor of the home. There are no interior stairs.
There is a lockbox adjacent to the front door. Guests will be given the access code to the lockbox prior to their arrival.
Upon entry into the home, guests are greeted by a bright and airy living, dining, and kitchen area. This open-concept layout is perfect for entertaining friends and family. Enjoy the family room with a board game or late-night movie on the mounted flat-screen smart television. SeaSwept does offer satellite cable in addition to streaming apps. Guests are to sign in to their own app accounts and are responsible for signing out upon departure.
There is a full-size washer and dryer for guests to use in the living room closet. Although we offer a starter pack of laundry detergent, guests should always supply their own detergent for extended stays.
The kitchen is fully stocked with more than the basics; pots and pans, a drip coffee pot, a K-cup coffee maker, a tea kettle, and ample utensils. If we have not stocked an item that is needed, please let us know. Please note that the home will occasionally have coffee, sugar, creamers, salt, pepper, and olive oil. However, we do not stock these items. Guests can snag these items from Sassy Bass Market, which is within two miles of the house. The dining table seats six and the high-top table seats four.
The master bedroom ensuite can be found on the east side of SeaSwept. It has a king bed, two nightstands with reading lamps, a flat-screen cable television, a dresser and closet space for storing luggage, a private exterior entrance, and a full three-piece bath. The bathroom has a walk-in shower with double vanity and loo.
The queen guest room can be found on the northwest corner of SeaSwept. It has a queen bed with flat-screen cable television, a nightstand with a reading lamp, a privacy door, and closet space for storing luggage.
The bunk room can be found on the north side of the home near the kitchen. This bedroom has two sets of twin bunk beds, a privacy door, and a walk-in closet for storing luggage.
The guest bathroom is on the southwest side of the home. This three-piece bath has a cast iron tub/shower combo. We offer fresh linens and bar soap for every full bath.
The ground level houses the fourth guest bedroom, doubling as the second master bedroom. It has a king bed, nightstands with reading lamps, flat-screen smart television (without cable access), luggage storage, and a dedicated entrance with plenty of privacy from the rest of the group. This bedroom is heated and cooled with a new 15,000BTU Mitsubishi mini split. It was installed in 2022 and rises to the challenge of keeping the room cool and comfortable during our hot south Alabama summers!
The third bathroom, consisting of a walk-in shower stall and a loo, is on the ground level underneath the main house. Two outdoor showers and an outdoor sink station–all with hot and cold water–can be found here as well. There is nothing better than showering under the stars. Please always use the outdoor shower prior to, or in lieu of, showering indoors. The sand is hard on our pipes.
SeaSwept's tiki bar, grill, and outdoor food prep area can be found under the house. The home has a Weber charcoal grill. Guests are responsible for bringing all of their BBQ supplies. Please pull the grill out from under the house before grilling.
Our beaches are quiet and not publicly accessible. Although downtown Gulf Shores is 20 minutes away, there are plenty of places to eat and have fun on our side of the island. We have a detailed list of bars, restaurants, and grocery stores in our digital guidebook.
