Positive: The view of the sea and beach was amazing, and so was being able to hear the sound of the waves day and night, just incredible. To enjoy the spectacular views, there are windows all the way around the property, including the bathroom. The dining area was compact but has everything we needed, including a clever leaf table which you can fold out to use as an extra worktop when preparing the food, and then as a dining table afterwards. There are two toilets, one en suite and the other as part of the bathroom at the other end of the property, This was very convenient, even though it was just the two of us. The bathroom is also very large and specious, including having two wash basins in a luxurious His & Hers style! Testament to the speciousness and comfort of the apartment was when we had to stay indoors for two full days, owing to enormous storms when we visited in October, and so were grateful that the place had all the facilities and the living space which made enduring the bad weather so much more bearable. Also, having an additional sofa in the bedroom helped in that situation, so you had somewhere else to sit if you wanted to. The bed is very large, and the mattress is perhaps the most comfortable we had, coming very close to own home comforts. The host, Joaquim, is very kind and helpful. We felt more like honoured family guests rather than tourists conducting a commercial transaction or anything impersonal like that. The hosts left us so many goodies in way of a welcome pack, including a large basket of fruit on the table, and other foods and drinks in the fridge. There are two lovely beaches very close by. The main and most popular beach is about a 20 minute walk along a well paved path, even if one section of the route is by the main road it was perfectly fine to walk there and back. The other beach is even closer, just over 10 minutes away, and the route in this case is very quiet and residential.
Negative: No real negatives, but might be worth mentioning the rather rural nature of the location. We had a hire car at our disposal for the whole duration, which proved invaluable for getting to the big supermarkets in Ericeira, a lovely town less than 10 minutes away by car. Not sure if there were that many shops close by, but would say if you are staying at this apartment you may find that a car is pretty essential really. Both of us are fit and well, fortunately, but it is worth highlighting that people who have some mobility difficulties would need to bear in mind that the apartment is upstairs, and so there are about 10 steps to go up there. Also, there are a couple of big steps to get in and out of the bathtub/shower where you have to be a bit careful about that too.
Summary: Glorious views, comfortable, specious & well equipped apartment, gracious hosts, highly recommended!
