Positive: Clean, modern, spacious rooms, well kitted-out. I was upgraded to a very large family room. Very friendly lady on reception and the same friendly and professional lady when I checked out. A very good breakfast with helpful restaurant staff (Jesmond made me a lovely coffee)

Negative: My key card stopped working an hour before check out and I had to make repeated visits to reception from the 4th floor to try to get it reactivated, being told firstly it was because check out time had passed (it hadn’t) and then that I wasn’t tapping the card properly. A colleague accompanied me on the third trip to ‘show me’ how to tap my key card and when it still didn’t work, he used a master key card to let me in with no acknowledgment or apology for the inconvenience (or apology for the repeated gaslighting!)

Summary: Clean, comfortable - key card issue undermined an otherwise lovely and smooth stay
