Private, gated community in the mountains surrounding Ramona. Extremely quiet and remote. We are located in high-desert wilderness about 12 minutes from Main St. There are wild animals around such as coyotes, mule deer, rattle snakes, etc. Though they ALL tend to stay FAR away from people, its worth noting that they live here too. Although the area is well lit at night, we have provided flashlights and recommend using them at night to ward off any critters ;) We have unrivaled 360 degree mountaintop views of the region. Due to safety reasons, we do not allow pets or children at this unit. We have another larger property on site that is perfect for dogs and kids. Ramona, CA is located in rural wine country in San Diego, County. Travel to the Casita, as well as around the region, requires a vehicle. Just 5-10 minutes down to town or neighboring wineries. Just 25 minutes from historic Julian. Roads are paved the entire way, but please use caution and drive slow as the roads do narrow and there is exposure to steep edges. Winter time fog can also effect visibility. Please use caution if it is raining or foggy!
Things about the property:
We use well water, please be water conscious. A water filter has been provided for your comfort. Please use the pool. Due to the cost of propane and wear and tear on the equipment, the hot tub is only available at certain times of the year and day and we do charge an $60 fee per day. There is no guest access to the controls, so you will have to arrange for this prior to your stay.
Sunscreen is in the bathroom closet. Towels are in the closet. Blankets are in the chest. Pick as many lemons as you like to take with you from the orchard. The whole property is smoking free because of the risk it poses for wildfires. We appreciate your understanding and attention to fire safety.
Things to be aware of:
This is rural Ramona, where there are coyotes, black widow spiders, and rattlesnakes. If you hear a coyote, clap your hands and they run away. Black widow spiders have a red hourglass mark on their back - don't touch them, or put them outside if you encounter them. If you hear a rattling sound, back away quickly, as it could be a rattle snake. If you encounter a rattlesnake, please come tell us in the main house so we can remove it for you. You are 35 minutes from the closest hospital. A basic medical kit is in the bathroom closet.
Directions: GPS via Google/Apple Maps etc. should get you here just fine. The one thing that seems to trip people up is that its easy to miss the turn on to Swan Rd. from Old Julian highway. There is a BLACK STEEL community gate at Swan Road intersection that is usually left open. (If you have pulled up to a WHITE steel gate, you have gone too far and are likely at Cinnamon Rock Rd.)
Continue to follow the GPS directions from there until you see a Y in the road with another black steel gate on the left. There is a keypad to open the gate. The code is 2008-ENTER.
It takes a moment to open, but if you are having issues, press the RING doorbell.
Please mind the No Parking signs.
You can either enter the house via the door on the North side of the garage or by taking the exterior steps next to the carport up to the deck and around to the main door. We leave the doors unlocked and the keys on the coat hook. You are welcome to lock the doors as you come and go.
Pass the grey/blue house and stay to the RIGHT on the driveway, following the road ALL the way up the hill. The casita is located next to the main house at the top of the hill. You will park by the orange traffic pylons in the upper driveway. You can enter through the pool deck gate. The door will be open. If you leave the property and chose to lock the door, you will need to come and go via the sliding door on the wooden deck (South) side of the unit as it is the only one lockable by key. The other door only locks and unlocks from the inside.
