Lightning Bug Lodge at Cattail Creek (treehouse overlooking Cattail Creek in Burnsville NC) between beautiful Asheville and Boone! Perched at nearly 4K elevation...and 10 minutes from historic mountain town of Burnsville. Awesome hiking, gem mining, as... | Cabin in Burnsville, NC

2 Bedroom Cabin with Internet, Kitchen and TV
The story behind Lightning Bug Lodge is that it has been my labor of love for several years, and I'd like to share what a special place it is.....as well as the serenity, beauty and tranquility of the NC mountains. The cabin is at nearly 4K' elevation, and is one ridge over from Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi). It's located about 15 minutes up from the historic mountain town of Burnsville, and is between (and close to) both Asheville and Boone.
You leave the world behind when you cross the bridge over Cattail Creek onto the gravel lane winding past various cute and eclectic cabins - each with their own design and personality. Bring your things up to my treehouse, and have a hot or cold beverage in a rocking chair on the porch.....listen to the gurgling creek and the wind through the trees.
Come on in and get cozy and comfy in the charming quirkiness of the cabin. Light the candles, turn on the music.....and curl up with a book, cook a special meal, make special drinks, play cards or a game - and connect on a deep and personal level with great conversation without the interruptions of everyday life. Perfection in a world of distraction! There are 2 bedrooms with a full bath in between. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed....super toasty with heated mattress pad covers. There's also a queen pull-out sofa in the den......along with a big, cushy denim couch that provides the best naps ever! Every window has a beautiful view out into the tree canopy, across to the ridge line, or down across the sparkling creek.
Within a short walk or ride is awesome hiking on the Black Mountain Crest Trail (and many others of varying degree and skill level), craft and antique stores, historical landmarks, river tubing, arts and shopping, a growing microbrewery, zip-lining, restaurants and taverns, astronomy observatory, Penland School of Crafts, gem mining, Altapass apple orchard with mountain music, as well as the majesty of Mt. Mitchell
For a day's trip, you can visit Grandfather Mountain, hot springs, waterfalls, snow-tubing, white-water rafting, Chimney Rock at Lake Lure (from Dirty Dancing and Last of the Mohicans), skiing, Elk Park Falls, Linville Falls and Caverns....and the magic of Asheville and Boone.
Each guest has their own idea and vision of what makes a perfect getaway. If tranquility, coziness, charm - and the beauty of the mountains, water and stars fits the bill......I would be honored to host you at Lightning Bug Lodge at Cattail Creek!
