This New England gem is a beachside paradise and sits on 22 acres of gorgeous sprawling fields. The 600 foot sand and stone beach is perfect for soaking up the sun, searching for beach glass, or skipping stones. Spend the day exploring, relaxing, or playing in the water. Birdwatching is bountiful, and the call of loons will become your lullaby. Finish your day watching the horizon light up as the sun sets over the water.
This home, built in 1935, has been featured in the Old House Journal & Vermont Magazine. Original weighted windows, varnished beadboard walls and ceilings, wainscot wall panels, fabric inlays, and most notably the porcelain sinks in the kitchen & bathroom are just some of the historic highlights.

Bedroom 3 - Champlain: On the second story, double bed, overlooks the lake, remote ceiling light & fan.

Bedroom 5 - Rouses Roost: On the second story, atop a small second stairway from the kitchen, twin bed, lake view, lamp and pull chain ceiling fan (both can be reached while in bed).
Bedroom 6 - Boat House: Detached, separate building, renovated former boat house. Double bed, seating area with a couch, love seat, and chair, small table with two chairs. Beautiful sliding glass doors frame the sunsets perfectly.
Linens for your stay included for all bedrooms: Sheets, blankets, bath towels, wash cloths, and beach towels.
1 Shared bathroom: Includes a full shower/bath combo, a toilet and standing sink. Centrally located between the bedrooms on the second floor.
Fully Functioning Kitchen: Everything you need to prepare home cooked meals. Gas and charcoal grills for outdoor cooking.
Comfortable shared gathering areas:
Living room with two arm chairs, a leather couch with a chaise, leather love seat, rocking chair and pouf ottoman. The living room overlooks the screened in porch and lake. There is no TV on site, intentionally, to encourage peaceful lake side living with your focus on nature and deeply connecting with yourself and those sharing the space with you.
Dining room with oak table that seats eight. Shaded by mature lilacs which provide a reprieve from the sun if desired.
Large Screened Porch. This is the space most people spend the most time. Outfitted with 4 wooden Adirondack Chairs, a large picnic table, high-top table with two chairs, it's the perfect space to lounge in a bug-free zone! Morning coffee with the loons, watching kids splashing in the water, dinners overlooking the lake, or a glass of wine to accompany the sunset are just a few ways to use the space. The sun setting is the star of the day, but the west facing screens are equipped with manual bamboo shades should you prefer shade. There are two remote control lights with ceiling fans to provide more comfort as it gets dark or gets hot.
Expansive Beach & yard! There is a span of beach for you to gather and have fun on. Additional plastic chairs are available for you to sit on the beach. We will leave a pile of wood for an evening fire near the waters edge (and of course the makings for s'mores). We will provide 4 kayaks with expandable life vests and one paddle board for your use. You can make great use of the yard for corn hole or jenga!
Dock. The perfect spot for morning yoga or coffee while the sun comes around the south side of the island.

Isle La Motte is the northern most island in Vermont. Although it's an island, it's easily accessible by car over the causeway from Alburgh Peninsula. Very little has changed - step back in time, truly slow down and take in the natural beauty.

Island Exploration & History:
The Chazy Fossil Reef (5 miles away) is a 460 million year old, world renowned geological treasure, which underlies much of the bedrock of southern Isle La Motte. It is considered the oldest coral reef in the world with fossils to prove it and now a National Natural Landmark, protected by the Federal Government.
St. Anne's Shrine (1 mile away) is a Roman Catholic Shrine located on the island. Its sprawling grounds, outdoor chapel and lakeside location make it a very unique place of worship. Its quiet beauty and welcoming atmosphere add to its charm.
Teddy Roosevelt was invited to the Fisk Farm (3 miles away) to speak to the Fish & Game League, when the unexpected and sad assassination of President McKinley occurred. Roosevelt had to leave immediately to go to Albany, NY to be sworn in as the 26th President of the United States.
Isle La Motte Vineyard & Winery (2.5 miles away) is a quaint, boutique vineyard with tasting room and tapas menu. The nearly 2 acre vineyard predominately grows Marquette grapes for red wines and LaCrescent for white, with miscellaneous Frontenac, Frontenac Blanc, and Louise Swenson varieties mixed in for complexity. They continue to expanding their offerings and experimenting with our wine-making processes.
Alburg Golf Links is just off of Isle La Motte, on the Alburgh Peninsula (5 miles away) and is home to an 18 hole course with sprawling greens the follow the lay of the land. It features 6,562 yards of golf and is designed in a way that will take you back in time. Small putting surfaces, push up greens, lengthy fairways will provide just enough challenge for you day out.
Kraemer & Kin Brewery and Tap Room is beautifully nestled on a knoll within the Alburg Golf Links. Family owned and operated, you'll become their "kin" once you share stories and experience the bounty of beverages. The beers are made on site and are truly inspired by nature. It's a great place with a friendly vibe, good food, and thirst quenching beers & cocktails.
