It is best known for its antique shops, gardens, viewpoints and a growing gay population, yet it's emerging as an interesting shopping destination due to the growing number of designer shops and a foodie heaven, thanks to an incredible amount of amazing restaurants. It remains primarily a residential neighborhood known for two of the most tranquil squares in the city, Principe Real Park and Praca das Flores (around the corner), and its palaces. A certain vitality in the shops and streets contrasts nicely with the antiques and preserved facades of the buildings.
