Nana's Guest House, Cedar City's first vacation home, has been hosting festival goers and SUU guests since 1999. This two-bedroom, one bath home is in the heart of Cedar City's Historic District and is a stone's throw across the street from the world famous Utah Shakespearean Festival and adjacent to the beautiful grounds and buildings of Southern Utah University.
Nana's has long been a favorite of guests attending the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, SimonFest Theatre,and visitors and guests of Southern Utah University along with those just wanting to stay a night or two while enjoying all that Cedar City and Southern Utah has to offer!
This cozy two-bedroom home was once the home of my cherished Nana, who was full of warmth and grace. Nana's home was always a delight to visit and to partake of her love, charm and elegance. Upon Nana's passing, Burch Mann brought her world famous American Folk Ballet to Cedar City in 1982 and lived in the home for several years. San Christopher, Burch's daughter eventually moved to Cedar to teach with her mother in the university's dance department. San purchased the Gronway Parry home on 200 West and the two would visit each other several times a day through the gate in the fence in Nana's back yard connecting the two homes. When San passed away, Burch moved into San Christopher's home on 2nd West and upon Burch's passing, she left the home to the University's Department of Theater, Dance, and Arts. Shortly thereafter, SUU renamed Gronway Parry's home the Burch Mann Home but it was Nana's that that was her first home and that she loved most!
Nana's is beautifully decorated, has two bedrooms, each with a queen sized bed and accommodates up to 4 people. It has a fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator and microwave, coffeemaker, dishes, silverware and cooking utensils. The main level of the home has a dining room with seating for four and windows looking out on the iconic grounds and theaters of the USF, a spacious living room with sofa, love seat, large screen TV and fireplace to cozy up to during winter months. The bathroom tile is original and has the year 1934 etched in one of the floor tiles, noting the year the home was built. The bathroom has a tub/shower combination, toilet and vanity. Downstairs is a laundry room with washer and dryer along with a large storage area. Outside, you will enjoy a lovely landscaped yard and your own private off street parking.
Those who have stayed in the past will open the windows or sit on the porch and listen to the music and sounds of Shakespeare, with its iconic green show wafting across the street.
