According to some, the white truffles of Istria are comparable to the white truffles of the famous truffle region of Alba in Italy. In honor of this, the famous truffle festival takes place every year in September and October.
On the second weekend in September, there is a very special attraction in Buzet - a gigantic omelette (also known as a fritada). Over 2000 eggs and 10 kg of truffles are cooked in a huge pan. This event marks the official start of the truffle season.
