Get cozy in the Captain's Quarters. A classic Chevy Van is your escape to sail away to unknown territories. Your pirate ship is dry-docked in a small oasis, awaiting your unique adventure.
The campsite is on cannabis-friendly private property bordering state land at the end of a half-mile dirt road. Your little oasis is surrounded by natural desert vegetation. We are backed up to beautiful Daisy Mountain. Drive a quick 10 min to gas stations, cannabis dispensaries, and some of my favorite restaurant options. Only 15 min from Anthem and 22 min from Cave Creek for fabulous local thrift stores and more of my favorite dining. Visit New River Nature Reserve and Jewel of the Creek Preserve to get closer to nature or walk out the back gate and enjoy the BLM public land.
A couple of cozy nights in the Captain's Quarters may be just what you need to unplug and regroup. :) Our quest to unplug from the mainstream and simplify our lives, led us to explore alternative living solutions, including vans and tiny homes.
Sleep well on a firm, foam full-size mattress. We provide a fitted sheet, a comfy blanket, and two half-size pillows.
Electricity for phone charging, LED lights, and refrigeration is provided courtesy of the big fireball in the sky and battery backup. Not for high-wattage appliances!
Space heater courtesy of residence grid electricity for those chilly nights. An air conditioner is installed for the hot season.
It’s still camping. :) Please be prepared to contain your food scraps from critters. No feeding the residents. :)
No Fires! It's too dry here to have the risk. No cooking. No campfires. No cigarettes.
It’s RUSTIC y’all! "Half-bath" is stretching it.. No plumbing. It's just an outhouse. No Shower, but there is a water hose. The toilet is dry composted in a bucket with a seat and lid.
You will not be secluded. Our family lives and works on the property. We will give you your space or be social, as you wish.
This is a working ranch; expect some displaced dust and debris. Part of the access road is dirt and poorly maintained, but still accessible with a compact car.
Beware you may encounter wild creatures including spiders, snakes, and scorpions. Ranch residents include a cat, nine horses, and a mule.
We love fur friends, but this is not a good fit for visiting pets due to other ranch animals. Please do not bring an animal.
We are settled in New River for now and ready to share our cozy desert getaway with more than our friends & family. We have really enjoyed our little nomadic home. I think you will too!
