Summary: We did not get to stay in the Apartment A4 that we booked An had pre-paid for (2br 2ba top floor apartment with outdoor terrace and sea view. Upon arrival we were taken to a ground floor 1 Br 2 Ba apartment (In building C) with a sliding door opening directly to the lower of the two pools. The second bed was a pull-out sofa bed. We of course were very disappointed and showed Irene our confirm of apartment A4. She agreed that this not the apartment we rented and this was a mistake made by the “booking agent Boris.” Apparently they booked the apartment to someone else (Due to Boris not communicating with them the rental thru vrbo) and we had no other option on the property other than the 1br 2ba ground floor apartment. Irene then reached out to Boris via telephone and she put me on the phone with Boris. After me having to confront him with his error he initially only agreed to refund 20%, then 30% and ultimately 50% and also include breakfast that we previously had not opted for.. We accepted his offer, as there was no other apartment option available at this property and we did not want to waste our holiday time on Hvar searching for another flat. However, I must stress that we wanted to stay in the apartment that we actually booked. It certainly felt like a bait and switch. Upon realizing that the other apartment was double booked we should have been given an early heads up in order to make other arrangements at another property or been offered the smaller apartment with no terrace and no view at a reduced rate. Instead we felt ambushed trying to negotiate something on the spot, after our arrival on property, with no up-front acknowledgement that a booking mistake had occurred. Irena and her husband (the on-site property managers) were great with the check-in process and very helpful with any of our questions.. They helped arrange for a rental car for the day. The breakfast was a buffet that was done well with a variety of options. This property is run as a small inn with approximately a dozen apartments.
